Rocky Mountain Agility

Rocky Mountain Agility Dog Training Center will be sponsoring a “RUN FOR THE $$$” Agility Trial! Three different agility games will be played – Helter-Skelter, Full House and Fast.  Competitors will play according to the dog’s height.  Prizes will be awarded for 1st through 10th place.  “Run for the $$$” will open at 8 am with runs beginning at 9.  At the end of the trial, if time permits, experienced agility dogs can run for fun at $5 per run.

For dogs new to the sport, a dog-friendly small obstacle course with helpful instruction will also be available for $1, so you and your dog can give agility a try.  Funds donated to Summerset will benefit The Foothills Foundation.

Agility is a dog sport played for fun or at local competitions.  The dog and handler work as a team with the handler safely maneuvering their dog around the agility obstacle course.  Agility is a fast, fun and active way to teach your dog to obey you while off or on lead.

Ruff Flyball Club

Flyball - the World’s Fastest Growing Sport for Canines! Have you ever looked at your dog and thought of an athlete?  Or wondered how to finally wear them out?  Flyball is the sport for you!

Flyball is a fast-paced, competitive, canine team sport.  Relay teams of four dogs each race the clock to finish first.  Each dog runs down a fifty-one foot lane, leaps four hurdles, and then triggers a spring-loaded box at the end of the lane that releases a tennis ball.  The dog grabs the ball, turns, and races back to the finish line.  The moment one dog returns, the next starts its run, until they have all completed the course.  The fastest, error free team wins the race.  Just as in any human relay race, the dogs are timed as a team.

Flyball is not only for speedy dogs; any type of dog is encouraged to play.  Most flyball clubs include several different breeds of dogs.  Pure breeds, mixed breeds and rescues are equally welcome.  Flyball can take care of their excess energy and enhance your relationship with your dog.

For more information on RUFF Flyball Club go to www.coloradoflyball.org.
